Reiki
Reiki is an energetic healing art with its modern day roots in Japanese origin.
The word itself comes from the two Japanese words:
REI meaning “Universal Life” and KI meaning “Energy”
There is a non-physical, ubiquitous energy that gives life to every living organism.
For many thousands of years we have known of this energy and sought to develop ways to harness its power to heal and influence our lives.
In Japan it is known as Ki, in China as Chi, throughout many Asian cultures it is Prana and by most of the Western world it is referred to as the Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost.

From the moment of our conception we carry this energy in and around our bodies, modern science has even established its existence and with the aid of Kirlian photography we are now able to see this energy that encompasses all living things.
For thousands of years Ancient Eastern cultures have harnessed and applied this energy for healing and disciplines such as Reiki, Tai Chi, Feng Shui, Meditation, Yoga and Acupuncture have been successfully developed to control and enhance the flow of this energy in and around the body.

Nature’s life giving energy is pure and holds omniscient wisdom, it is our natural birthright and each and everyone of us uses it daily, even though many of us do not realize that we are doing so.
We all hold the natural ability to heal our self and others and to live a happier and more fulfilling life.
When a child falls and hurts their knee, instinctively they will place their hand upon the sore spot, and the pain is relieved as they unconsciously work with the energy to heal themselves.
Likewise a parent will kiss the child’s hurt or injured limb better and also place their hand on top. Unknowingly, both child and parent alike are unconsciously working with the energy.
The parent is sending and channeling the energy and the child is receiving and drawing the energy
The original name and techniques of this form of hands on healing were lost throughout time, only to be rediscovered by a Japanese scholar and monk named Dr. Makao Usui, who fashioned the name Reiki.
Reiki is a two syllable Japanese word meaning Rei-Universal, omnipresent, everywhere at the same time. Ki - the non physical vitality that gives life to all living things.
When this universal energy is flowing unencumbered, we feel healthy and full of enthusiasm, life feels easier to deal with and we hold a higher resistance to illness and disease.
When restricted by aspects such as stress, unhappiness or fatigue, we become more susceptible to disease and sickness, our attitude sinks to one of general negativity and life’s challenges appear more difficult to deal with.

The human body itself is comprised of over 50 trillion cells.

Each cell contains omniscient wisdom and is connected to the universe and every living thing within it.
A good analogy is to think of the universe as a huge ocean of water, every living thing within that ocean is like a tiny droplet, together these droplets make up and are a part of the universal life force that we call Reiki.
Reiki is part of our genetic structure, an inbuilt intelligence that energizes the mind, body and spirit, stimulating life, growth, health and healing.
This energy cannot be destroyed, it is the very essence of our existence and during the process of physical death it transitions from the body to continue its journey as part of the living universe.
Reiki is holistic, it works on al levels of the body, mind and spirit, stimulating our own natural healing abilities as the blocked emotional and physical elements that lead to illness and disease are cleared.
Reiki is neither positive nor negative, it is the highest and most profound vibration of life, divine in origin it allows us all to become one with all living things alive in our world.

Reiki is pure unconditional love and joy, bringing all who experience and embrace its principles together in harmony.
The skills and techniques associated with simple and easy to learn, small children and adults can equally comprehend and incorporate this ancient form of healing into their lives.
